The Cadillac XTS is a large sedan with enough space for five people. This year, Cadillac decided to make few changes to the popular sedan since it’s a continuation of the model's first generation. Updates include adding a bigger, more powerful wireless device pad inside the vehicle as a nod to how important technology has become to most people’s way of life.
The 2019 Cadillac XTS is available in five trims. The trims are Base, Luxury, Premium Luxury, Platinum and Platinum V-Sport. When you go with the Cadillac brand, even the base trim is pretty nice. Referred to simply as XTS, the sedan’s base model comes with 19-inch wheels, keyless entry and ignition, rear parking sensors and automatic climate control. In the area of tech, the car features a rear view camera, a 9-inch touchscreen and wireless smartphone charging station. Yes, even the base model XTS has wireless charging available.
If you go with the Luxury trim, you’ll get things like automatic wipers, ambient interior lighting and a heated steering wheel. This trim also features amenities such as heated and ventilated front seats, rear seats that are heated and front parking sensors.
The Premium Luxury trim comes with most of Cadillac’s safety gear as well as 20-inch wheels, adaptive headlights and automatic high beams. When you upgrade to this trim level, you’ll also get an adaptive suspension and a 14-speaker Bose audio system. Options for the Premium Luxury trim include 22-way massaging front seats, a panoramic sunroof and extra safety features.
If you purchase a 2019 Cadillac XTS with the Platinum trim, you’ll have a vehicle with everything that comes with the lower level trims along with upgraded leather upholstery and deluxe armrests that feature sunshade and audio controls.
The Platinum V-Sport is essentially the same as the XTS Platinum trim, but the V-Sport features a more powerful engine. All-wheel drive is standard with this model. It is a handy addition if you live in an area with adverse weather.
When it comes to general features, the XTS comes with a lot of trunk space, and the rear seats fold down to give you even more cargo capacity. It has touch sensitive controls that are refined and responsive. The sedan also has an easy entry feature, one that helps you make your way into the driver’s seat. Along with this, the vehicle’s doors swing open nice and wide to make it easier to get inside. The sedan has a quiet cabin and comfortable seats that turn long road drives into a peaceful experience. An especially cool feature of the vehicle is that it has seat-mounted speakers. It also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Cadillac is equipping the XTS with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 304 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque. The car company is also offering a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with the V-Sport trim. This one produces 410 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, so if you upgrade to this trim, you’ll have plenty of zip under the hood.
While plenty of safety features come standard with the XTS, you can upgrade your vehicle to make it a little safer. Optional safety technology includes lane departure warning, lane keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring systems. You can also add rear cross-traffic alert, a vibrating safety-alert seat and surround-view camera. Low-speed automatic emergency braking is also available as is rear cross-traffic alert. The 2019 Cadillac XTS is a sedan that will not only get you around town quickly, but it will also do so with style.
