Specs at a Glance

The Cadillac Escalade gets only minor changes for the 2019 model year, which is no disappointment to customers who already consider it to have everything they need. What you will notice, however, is that there is a slight improvement in the technology of this year's Escalade. Additionally, its cabin offers a quieter ride, which makes rides more relaxed and comfortable. The Escalade is powered by a V8 engine that gives it plenty of base power and ample towing capacity. Of the four trim levels produced this year, the Luxury is the second and the Platinum is the fourth (which is also the highest). Both have the same engine, and they offer an enticing array of standard and available amenities.

Performance

When it comes to performance, both the Luxury and the Platinum offer the same capability. They are both powered by an eight-cylinder engine that produces a maximum of 420 HP and up to 460 LB-FT of torque. The engine is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission on both trim levels. In either trim, you have the option of getting either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Rear-wheel drive is standard on both, while four-wheel drive is optional. An engine oil and transmission oil cooler are standard on both trim levels, too. An engine block heater is offered on both versions of the 2019 Escalade. Heavy-duty trailering towing equipment comes standard to safely and easily tow your heaviest loads.

Appearance

Both trim levels of the Escalade come standard with 22-inch wheels. While 22 inches is the largest wheel size available, there are many options available for both trim levels in terms of finish. The wheels are paired with 22-inch all-season tires as well. Automatic on/off headlights are standard exterior features on both trim levels. Black assist steps are standard on the Luxury. The Platinum has body-colored folding mirrors on the outside with integrated turn signals. Dark tinted glass is standard on both the Platinum and the Luxury editions. The Luxury comes with a driver awareness package, while the Platinum comes with a driver assist package. Both trims have a hands-free power liftgate, and the Platinum has illuminated door handles for aesthetic appeal and better visibility in the dark. LED head lights and tail lights are standard on both trims, and both are outfitted with rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers.

Features

Both the Luxury and Platinum trims are full of salient features. A backup camera, which is standard in both, offers a panoramic view of your surroundings. Split-folding rear seats, another shared amenity, frees up additional cargo storage space as needed. In both trims you'll find a Cadillac user infotainment system with integrated navigation. A 4G WiFi hotspot is standard on both trim levels, as is a wireless charging station. If you like your music, you will certainly appreciate the 16-speaker Bose sound system. Other standard interior features on both trims are a hands-free power liftgate, heated and cooled front seats, and a power-operated sunroof. A heated leather-wrapped wheel is a standard feature on both. A rear seat Blu-Ray/DVD entertainment system is standard on the Platinum and optional on the Luxury. Both trims have a number of standard and available safety features too, including seven airbags, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane change alert.

With plenty to offer in the way of safety features, interior amenities, and performance, both the Luxury and Platinum trims of the 2019 Cadillac Escalade are fine choices.
