Specs at a Glance

The XT5 has become the popular choice from Cadillac due to its affordability as a luxury vehicle. For the 2020 model year, there has been a reshuffling of the trim lineup, which involves leaving behind the Platinum in favor of the Sport as the new top trim level. At the other end of the spectrum remains the Luxury, which is the XT5's base-level trim. Despite their differences due to their positioning, the Luxury and the Sport provide the main attributes of the 2020 Cadillac XT5, which include affordability, great ride quality, and remarkable fuel efficiency.

The XT5 Luxury is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine, which produces 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. With its auto start-stop technology to eliminate engine idling and a front-wheel-drive system that sends power to two wheels instead of four, this engine provides the vehicle's top fuel economy at 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. For enhanced acceleration ability, go with the XT5 Sport, which has a 3.6-liter V6 under its hood and gets an output of 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. Standard on the Sport is an all-wheel-drive system for optimal traction performance. And since the V6 also has auto start-stop technology, it provides an acceptable fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

Designed as a four-door vehicle with contoured sides and an aggressive stance, the Cadillac XT5 counts LED automatic on/off headlights, heated power side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, roof rails, a power liftgate, and 18-inch alloy wheels among its standard exterior features. On the Sport, the power liftgate can be opened without using your hands, and the 18-inch wheels are replaced with 20-inch ones. Other Sport-level enhancements include a power sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, and power-folding ability on the side mirrors with a driver-side auto-dimming mirror.

The Cadillac XT5 has an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, a 6-way power-adjustable passenger seat, 2-way power lumbar support, front-seat and steering-wheel heating, and leatherette seat trim. Upgrade to the Sport if you want leather seat trim instead of leatherette, or a memory system added on the driver's side.

For comfort and convenience, the XT5 Luxury provides features such as cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, a dual-screen driver information center, a rotary controller, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, an eight-speaker Bose stereo system, the OnStar communications system, three months of SiriusXM Radio, four USB ports and an audio jack, and an 8-inch touchscreen. Enhancements and additions at the Sport level include wireless charging ability, auto-dimming ability on the rearview mirror, a garage-door opener, and an upgrade of the SiriusXM subscription to the 360L platform for more content.

Standard safety features on the Luxury include seven airbags, an HD rearview camera, safety seat alert and rear seat reminder abilities, electronic vehicle stability and traction control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and Teen Driver for monitoring the driving habits of younger drivers. Also standard are driver-assistance technologies that include automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front and rear park assist, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicator, and lane-keep assist with lane departure warning. Added on the Sport is a security package that includes a locking steering column, door lock and latch shields, inclination and vehicle interior movement sensors, locking wheel lugs, and a self-powered theft-deterrent alarm system. In addition, the Sport gets rear cross-traffic alert and lane change alert with side blind zone alert to enhance its driver-assistance tech.
