Don't let a malfunction with your vehicle get in the way of your adventures. You may have noticed that your engine's temperature has been fluctuating to levels that it shouldn't be at. While it's easy to ignore the problem, for the time being, it's better to have everything looked at early on. Putting off a vehicle issue only leads to more problems that will cost a lot of money to fix later on. When you make an appointment at Van Cadillac, we will inspect your engine's following areas to see what the culprit is.
The Cooling System
It's common to have a leak in your cooling system that causes fluid levels to decrease to an unsafe degree. When you don't have this vital fluid in your engine, the temperature has no way to stay at a proper level. We'll check for small leaks that are decreasing the coolant levels in your engine over time. We'll also look at your coolant levels when you come in for an inspection.
Water Pump
A water pump is present inside of your engine as a method of cooling everything down. When this water pump isn't working correctly, there's not enough pressure to keep your coolant flowing through your cooling system.
Your Radiator
Coolant temperatures rely on your radiator to keep things in check. You can experience problems when your radiator fans aren't working, and it's common for an issue to take place with this part of your vehicle. There are many internal components inside your radiator that can become eroded or damaged over time.
Thermostat for Temperature Control
The thermostat valve in your engine will regulate the amount of fluid that is running through your radiator. The thermostat will either open or close to control the amount of fluid that's needed. It's common for this valve to become stuck open or closed, which causes an imbalance of fluid. The engine will then overheat.
Hoses and Belts
Hoses and belts can commonly break or loosen the more that they are used. The belt inside your water pump can fail, which would cause your engine to overheat quite quickly.
If you've noticed that your engine is overheating, Van Cadillac recommends that you pull over and seek assistance quickly. The goal is to prevent permanent damage to your engine. Contact our service department in Kansas City, and we'll figure out what needs to be done to repair the problem.
