TWG Motorsports and GM receive formal approval for Cadillac Formula 1 team

The Cadillac Formula 1 Team has earned final approval to take its place on the 2026 Formula 1 grid. With TWG Motorsports and General Motors behind them, they'll join the ten established teams on the track.

TWG Motorsports and General Motors have been collaborating to secure Cadillac's spot in Formula 1 for the past year. In March 2025, the team was officially confirmed to have satisfied every criterion, an accomplishment FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem hailed as a “milestone.” He noted that the Cadillac entry is in full harmony with the forthcoming FIA 2026 regulations and expressed confidence that adding an eleventh team will galvanize both competitors and supporters.

Several high-profile appointments have been made recently, including Graeme Lowdon—formerly Marussia Sporting Director—as Team Principal, and industry stalwart Russ O'Blenes as CEO of TWG GM Performance Power Units.

Cadillac's development effort spans multiple U.S. facilities and includes a strategic base in Silverstone, England. Since launching their Formula 1 proposal, they've brought together a team of over 200 professionals dedicated to aerodynamics and component advancement.

Despite the challenges ahead, the Cadillac team is eager to invigorate the sport with their entry.
