Formula 1® Team Names American Star Colton Herta as Test Driver

Cadillac's Formula 1 Team has maintained a strong reputation in auto racing. The squad becomes even more competitive with a new addition. Cadillac's Formula 1 Team now welcomes the arrival of Colton Herta, who has recorded nearly ten wins in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Herta has joined as a Test Driver as Cadillac gears up for the 2026 season.

Cadillac Formula 1 Team's New Acquisition

Adding Colton Herta to Cadillac's Formula 1 program brings fresh opportunity for both parties. For Herta, it's a notable return to European-style racing where he's previously enjoyed top results and looks to continue that form with Cadillac in 2026. Herta began racing in Europe in 2015 and, within two years, achieved six podiums, five poles, and four victories in the Euroformula Open Championship. He has also competed in several distinguished European events, including multiple British F5 races, securing a Brands Hatch win and three podiums. He went back to racing in the U.S. in 2017.

Herta's record in the U.S. is just as strong. In less than eight INDYCAR seasons, he's earned nine wins, led more than 1,000 laps, and claimed 16 pole positions. He set records as the youngest driver to win an INDYCAR SERIES pole and the youngest to win an INDYCAR SERIES race. Herta has also notched IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship class wins at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2019 and 2022.

Herta aims to bring his experience and competitive edge to the Cadillac Formula 1 Team. The organization is pleased to add his intuition, energy, insight, and global perspective.
